Women Living at Delray Beach Halfway House Charged with Theft, Accused of Stealing Laptop, Purse

Delray Beach Theft Spree SuspectsTwo women are accused of stealing items from an office in Delray Beach, Florida.

According to authorities, the two suspects were walking down Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach FL when they came across an open office door. The suspects, ages 19 and 24, then allegedly entered the office and stole a number of items, including a laptop and a pink purse.

The owner of the office later notified police of the alleged theft. Delray Beach police officers spoke with the victim, who told police that the suspects also ate a couple of potato chips while they were in the office.

Remarkably, the suspects were apprehended when they allegedly tried to steal money from another person to buy heroin. The 22-year-old victim flagged a Delray Beach FL police officer on NE 2nd Avenue and told him that the suspects were chasing her. The victim said that she lived at a halfway house with the two women.

The police officer eventually located the two suspects hiding behind bushes. The suspects were placed under arrest, but not before allegedly admitting to working as a team to steal items and cash to finance their heroin habit. Among the items allegedly stolen by the suspects were purses and cell phones, which they would then use to trade for heroin.

Police also reportedly seized the stolen property and returned the items to the owner of the office on Atlantic Avenue.

Meanwhile, the suspects were charged with a number of criminal offenses, including petit theft and burglary.

After being arrested and processed, the suspects were taken to the Palm Beach County Jail. One of the suspects is being held at the facility on a $20,000 bail amount; the other suspect is being held on a $9,000 bail amount.

One of the suspects has a prior arrest for grand theft in Palm Beach County. Those charges are still pending.
