Local law enforcement received a report of gunshots in the Northwest neighborhood of West Palm Beach, FL. The shooting occurred around 10:30 p.m. near 15th Street and Division Avenue.
When police officers got to the scene, they found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims, a 33-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
The other victim, a 39-year-old man, was rushed to St. Mary’s Medical Center, where he received medical treatment for his injuries. He is expected to make a full recovery.
Palm Beach County FL police are actively investigating the murder. According to a police spokesperson, detectives were working several crime scenes.
At this time, investigators have not identified any suspects or a motive for the shooting.
If a suspect is eventually identified and apprehended, they would face significant criminal penalties. As set forth by Florida Statutes Section 782.04, anyone convicted of the unlawful killing of another person can potentially be charged with first degree murder. Since first degree murder is considered a capital felony in Florida, a conviction could result in the death penalty.

This was the 22nd confirmed homicide victim in Palm Beach County so far in 2015. According to a database that keeps track of homicides, there have already been four confirmed murder victims in West Palm Beach, Florida. There were a total of 20 reported murders in West Palm Beach city limits in 2014.
