A man from Boynton Beach was arrested after an he showed up to a rivals house with a knife.

The man, Jeffrey Jean-Guillaume, went to the man’s house on Galleria Street in Wellington in order to fight him over a post that was made online. After throwing rocks at the man’s window and getting no response, the father who was home at the time grabbed his gun and went outside to confront Guillaume. Guillaume then allegedly ran after the father with the knife and he in turn fired two shots, hitting the attacker in his upper body.The gunshot was not life threatening and Guillaume’s friends drive him to the hospital. The father then called the authorities after the men left. Police went to the hospital and found the car driven by the friends as well as the knife in the back seat.

Guillaume was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon as a result of the incident. A deadly weapon can be any weapon that is used or threatened to be used in a way likely to produce death or great bodily harm. This is a third degree crime in Florida and a conviction can result in up to 5 years in prison, 5 years of probation and a potential fine of $5,000/
