According to authorities, the rape occurred in July 2013. The 32-year-old suspect reportedly met the victim in a bar in Lake Worth, FL.
The suspect is said to have invited the victim back to a recording studio at his apartment. The victim told police that she spent several hours with the suspect at the apartment.
The victim was reportedly uncertain about the encounter, so she called a friend to say that she was concerned about her safety. At that moment, the suspect allegedly grabbed the phone. According to a report filed with the Palm Beach County Sheriff Office, the victim’s friend called 911 and alerted police.
A deputy was able to listen to the phone call because the phone line reportedly remained open; although the suspect grabbed the phone from the victim, he did not hang up the line. The deputy allegedly heard the suspect threaten the victim and tell her that she could not leave the apartment.
When the victim tried to leave the residence, the suspect allegedly restrained her and pulled her back inside the apartment. He then allegedly forced himself on the victim and had sex with her against her will.
The victim eventually managed to get out of the apartment. Deputies with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene a short time later and found the suspect still inside his apartment.
The suspect is currently being held in jail on a $25,000 bond amount.
The suspect has denied any wrongdoing. He reportedly told sheriff’s deputies that the sexual activity with the victim was consensual. He also denied making any threats.
