According to authorities, the 29-year-old suspect, who lives in Lake Worth, made plans to house the victim and the victim’s family. However, the suspect instead set up the victim and robbed him and his family.
According to an arrest affidavit, the victim owed $300 to the suspect. The two reportedly reached an agreement to make sure that the money was repaid when they met.
When the victim, his wife, and their two young children arrived at the residence, the victim took $300 out of his pocket and walked into the suspect’s home; the victim’s wife and two children remained in the car. As the victim entered the house, an unidentified man pointed a gun at him and demanded that he hand over his cash.
After getting $300 from the victim, the armed man allegedly instructed an unidentified woman to go to the victim’s car and get more cash. The female suspect was allegedly brandishing a gun when she went to the vehicle and forced the mother and two children to get out of the car and walk to the house.
Once all of the victims were inside the residence, they handed over their remaining cash and personal belongings.
The suspects reportedly fled the scene on foot. However, prior to leaving, they reportedly warned the victims that their children would be shot if they attempted to contact the police.
Lake Worth police investigated the alleged theft and determined that the friend was actually part of the robbery; he allegedly set up the victim.
After being placed under arrest and charged, the suspect was transported to the Palm Beach County Jail. He is being held at the facility without bail.
