Royal Palm Beach Man Allegedly Points Gun at Son, Charged with Aggravated Assault, Battery

Royal Palm Beach Assault SuspectPolice recently arrested a Royal Palm Beach FL man accused of pointing a gun at his son’s face.

According to an arrest report, the crime occurred when the 55-year-old suspect became angry that his 18-year-old son had failed to get him a birthday card.

Police officers went to the scene of the dispute after receiving a report of a disturbance at a residence in Royal Palm Beach, Florida. When police got to the home, they spoke with both the victim and the suspect.

Witnesses told police that the suspect confronted his son and bumped him in the chest. The son then reportedly got angry and began to break items in his room.

At some point during the altercation, the suspect allegedly brandished a handgun. The suspect allegedly held the gun in one hand and used his other hand to shove his son and pull off his son’s shirt.

The suspect has been charged with multiple criminal offenses, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

If the suspect is convicted on the aggravated assault charges, he faces severe consequences. As set forth by Florida Statutes Section 784.021, aggravated assault with a firearm or other deadly weapon is classified as a third degree felony. A conviction for third degree aggravated assault with a deadly weapon could result in a sentence of 3-5 years in Florida State Prison.

After being arrested and charged, the suspect was transported to the West County Detention Center. He was initially being held at the facility without possibility of bond.
