Police recently arrested a woman who allegedly tried to flee officers who were responding to a shooting in West Palm Beach, Florida.
The West Palm Beach Police Department received a call about shots fired in the area of 31st Street and Windsor Avenue. Police officers were then dispatched to the scene to investigate.
When police arrived in the area of the reported shooting, they saw a gray Nissan Altima speeding off and allegedly trying to flee the scene. The officers attempted to stop the vehicle, prompting the suspect to allegedly toss a long gun out of the car. When the gun hit the ground, it reportedly discharged a round.
The car continued to drive away from police. During the pursuit, the suspect’s vehicle allegedly reached speeds that exceeded 80 mph.
At one point, the driver of the vehicle stopped the car in the front yard of a residence and allegedly tried to make a run for it. She was quickly apprehended.
Police later recovered the gun that the suspects allegedly threw out of the car. According to authorities, the gun is a rifle.
The suspect, a 23-year-old female, has been charged with a number of crimes, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and eluding police. The suspect was also cited for several traffic offenses.
The other suspect, a male passenger, managed to get away from police. Law enforcement is still searching for him.
After being arrested and processed, the female suspect was remanded to the Palm Beach County Jail. She was being held at the jail in lieu of $15,000 bail.
