According to law enforcement, the shooting occurred during the early morning hours in the Limestone Creek area of Jupiter, FL. Local police received a call about an altercation outside a home on 3rd Street. The house is two blocks away from Limestone Creek Elementary School.
The shooting left the victim in critical condition. He was taken to a nearby hospital to receive medical treatment for his injuries.
Authorities are acting under the assumption that the shooter and the victim knew each other. According to a spokeswoman for the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, the two men began fighting with each other outside the house. The fight came to an abrupt end when the suspect allegedly shot the victim.
After the incident, the suspect reportedly fled the area on foot.
Once police arrived at the scene, deputies canvassed the area in search of the suspect.
If the suspect is located and arrested, he could face significant criminal penalties. As set forth by Florida Statutes Section 784.021, anyone who uses a deadly weapon such as a firearm to commit an assault can be charged with third degree aggravated assault. A conviction for this felony-level offense could result in a sentence of 3-5 years in Florida State Prison.
