Man Charged with Burglary and Grand Theft, Allegedly Stole Coins and Class Rings from Woman in Delray Beach, FL

Delray Beach Burglary SuspectPolice in Delray Beach recently arrested a man accused of stealing coins and jewelry from the roommate of his girlfriend.

The thefts occurred at a residence located on Northwest Ninth Street in Delray Beach, Florida.

According to law enforcement, the 24-year-old suspect stole coins valued at more than $3,000. The coins were kept in several large jars in the bedroom of the victim. The victim told police that her bedroom was locked at the time of the theft.

The suspect also allegedly stole a college class ring from the victim’s room. The ring belonged to the victim’s deceased father. Police reportedly traced the ring to a pawnshop visited by the suspect.

According to police, the suspect later admitted that he pawned the ring but that he intended to get it back for the victim. The victim also reportedly told police officers that he stole the items because he has a drug addiction.

Delray Beach FL police investigated the theft incident after the victim reported that her personal property was missing from her room.

Investigators eventually linked the suspect to the theft through his fingerprints. Police got the fingerprints from small pieces of paper that had been left inside the change jars. When investigators compared the fingerprints to prints obtained from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office in Fort Myers, FL, they got a match with the suspect.

The suspect has been charged with a number of crimes, including burglary, grand theft, dealing in stolen property, and providing false verification of ownership.

After being arrested and processed, the suspect was transported to the Palm Beach County Jail. He was being held at the correctional facility on a $37,000 bail amount.
