Riviera Beach police arrested a man who allegedly wielded a machete and carried an illegal drug known as flakka.
According to an arrest report, police received a report of an altercation on the 1000 block of West 26th Street in Riviera Beach, Florida. When police officers arrived at the scene, they spoke with the suspect’s stepfather. Police learned that the man had gotten into a verbal dispute with the 30-year-old suspect.
The stepfather told police that the suspect momentarily left the area, only to return with a machete. He then allegedly screamed, “I should cut your [expletive] head off.”
Police officers later found the suspect sitting in the front yard of a house across the street. Police reportedly discovered the machete in the yard.
Somewhat remarkably, police also learned that the suspect was allegedly in possession of an illegal drug when he dropped a lit cigarette to the ground as officers approached. Investigators used a test kit to determine that the cigarette contained Alpha-PVP, also known as the illegal synthetic drug flakka.
The suspect was placed under arrest and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a weapon by a felon, and possession of a synthetic narcotic.
The suspect reportedly has a checked criminal past that includes 13 prior arrests for crimes, many of them violent, in Palm Beach County. The suspect previously served prison time as a result of separate convictions for aggravated battery and cocaine possession.
After being arrested and processed for this latest incident, the suspect was taken to the Palm Beach County Jail. He was being held at the facility without bond.
