Man Allegedly Wielded Machete During Attack in Delray Beach, Florida

Delray Beach FL Machete Attack SuspectPolice in Delray Beach Florida recently arrested a man who allegedly tried to attack another person with a machete.

According to law enforcement, the victim was doing yardwork near the 10000 block of Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach, FL. While the victim was riding a lawnmower, the 27-year-old suspect allegedly motioned with his hand for the victim to approach him.

The victim then rode his lawnmower toward the suspect. As the victim got closer, the suspect allegedly removed a machete from his jeans and came charging toward him.

According to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s arrest report, the victim managed to evade the suspect and avoid serious injury. The suspect then attempted to get on a bike but was unable to maintain his balance and fell off. It is not yet known if the suspect was intoxicated at the time of the incident.

The suspect ran away and fled the scene on foot. Police officers eventually tracked down the suspect at his nearby residence. According to officials, the suspect was wearing only his boxers.

The suspect was placed under arrest by police. However, the suspect allegedly resisted arrest and was extremely uncooperative as police transported him to police headquarters in a patrol car.

The suspect has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and resisting an officer.

Police do not believe that the suspect has a prior criminal record in Palm Beach County, Florida. Nonetheless, the suspect faces severe penalties if he is convicted of the charges against him. As set forth by Florida Statutes Section 784.021, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon is a third degree felony and can result in a minimum sentence of 3 years in Florida State Prison.

After being arrested and processed, the suspect was taken to the Palm Beach County Jail. He is being held at the facility without bail.
