Greenacres Florida police are searching for suspects in the fatal drive-by shooting of a man.
According to authorities, two people were shot while standing in front of Greenacres Food Market. The convenience store is located near 10th Avenue North and Fleming Avenue in Greenacres, FL.
One man was killed as a result of the gunshots. A second person was also injured in the shooting. The second victim was flown by Trauma Hawk to a local hospital, where they received medical treatment for their injuries.
This was the first homicide in Greenacres FL so far this year. Since 2011, there have been just 6 murders in Greenacres. However, the recent killing is the 13th to occur in Palm Beach County in 2015.
Shortly after the shooting, 10th Avenue North was closed between 57th Avenue and Fleming Avenue as police conducted an investigation.
The investigation into the recent homicide is active and ongoing. According to law enforcement, the investigation is currently in its “infancy.” As a result, police have yet to identify any suspects in the killing.
If a suspect is eventually identified and apprehended, they would be subject to severe penalties. As set forth by Florida Statutes Section 782.04, murder is a first degree felony and is potentially punishable by a life-long term of imprisonment.
