A man from Davie has been arrested after allegedly shooting at a tattoo artist after a disagreement.

The incident took place Monday night when the man, Shaujn Dominik Davis, got into an argument with the victim at an apartment complex on Treehouse Lane. During the confrontation, Davis brought out a pair of guns and threatened the victim, who then attempted to get away. Davis fired multiple shots in the air and then went after the victim again and fired multiple shots in his direction. The victim claims that at least one of these shots almost hit him in the head. After hearing the gunshots, Davis was seen outside holding the gun and police were called. He admitted to them he had tried to kill the victim

In Florida, attempted murder is sometimes punished almost as harshly as actual murder. To prove this crime, the prosecution must show that the defendant took a direct step towards killing the victim, and an intent to kill. In this case, both of these elements might prove to easy to show since the defendant admitted to the crime to police. Attempted murder can be either a first or second degree crime, depending on whether the defendant acted with premeditation. If he or she did, the charge will be first degree. In this case, it appears that the defendant acted in a fit of passion because of the argument. He is therefore likely to be charged in the second degree. A conviction for this crime can result 5 to 15 years in prison.
