Lauderdale Lakes Police Arrest Jupiter FL Gymnastic Coach Accused of Possessing Child Pornography
Police in Lauderdale Lakes FL recently arrested a Jupiter gymnastics coach accused of possessing child pornography on his computer.
The 66-year-old suspect serves as a gymnastics coach and mentor at CATS Gymnastics, which is located south of Indiantown Road and east of Interstate 95 in Jupiter, Florida. Prior to beginning work at the Jupiter FL organization, the suspect reportedly owned a children’s gym in Davie, FL.
After receiving word of the suspect’s alleged illegal activity, detectives with the Lauderdale Lakes Police Department began an investigation.
Police searched the suspect’s computer and reportedly discovered at least seven child pornography files that had been deleted. According to law enforcement, some of the files involved an adult male and a child.
Investigators interviewed the suspect, who allegedly admitted to downloading child pornography online. The suspect also reportedly told police that he downloaded software that would erase the pornography from his computer.
Lauderdale Lakes police also allegedly discovered several weapons at the suspect’s residence. According to authorities, police discovered a .22 caliber handgun, a .36 caliber handgun, a 7mm rifle, and ammunition.
The suspect faces a number of sex crime charges, including seven counts of possession of child pornography.
The suspect has also been charged with multiple weapons offenses, including possession of a firearm by a conviction felon and possession of ammo by a convicted felon. Since the suspect previously served a sentence in North Carolina prison for drug crimes, he is not allowed to own a handgun in Florida.
After being arrested and processed for the alleged sex crimes in FL, the suspect was taken to the Broward County Jail.
