Boynton Beach Florida Man Accused of Driving Drunk, Causing DUI Accident
Police recently arrested a Boynton Beach FL man who was allegedly driving drunk when he crashed into another vehicle and injured the other driver.
According to authorities, the 57-year-old suspect was behind the wheel of a car while he drove home during the early morning hours. At some point, the vehicle in front of him stopped for a red light; the suspect was unable to stop his own vehicle before rear-ending the other car.
After the car accident, the three occupants of the other vehicle were taken to a nearby hospital. They received medical treatment for neck and back pain.
Meanwhile, police officers responding to the scene reportedly detected alcohol on the suspect’s breath. Additionally, the suspect allegedly had red cheeks. Beyond that, police said that the suspect had a blank expression on his face when he spoke with officers at the scene.
Firefighters also arrived at the scene of the accident and took the suspect to Bethesda Medical Center. Although the suspect was not injured in the crash, it is policy to take individuals to the hospital when they are involved in a car accident and appear to be intoxicated.
Shortly after they arrived at the hospital, the suspect allegedly kicked one of the firefighters in the chin.
After the suspect was treated at the hospital, police placed him under arrest. The suspect was subsequently charged with driving under the influence (DUI) and battery on a firefighter.
The suspect was eventually taken to the Palm Beach County Jail, where he was being held on a $3,000 bail amount.
