Broward County sheriff’s investigators have asked for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in the murder of a college student in Oakland Park, FL.
The body of 19-year-old college student Nicole Franco was found in the gated Bridgewater Place complex. Franco was an aspiring pastry chef who commuted between the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and the Boca Raton Resort and Club.
According to police, Franco was attacked in her apartment in the early morning hours of June 3. Although Franco called 911 to report a burglary in progress, the attack proved fatal. Sheriff’s deputies had difficulty locating Franco’s apartment unit number.
Since then, Broward detectives have canvassed the area to question Franco’s neighbors and reviewed surveillance footage.
Police handed out fliers to residents of the Oakland Park apartment complex where Franco was found murdered.
A Broward homicide detective said that police are looking for “anybody that may have seen something, heard something, knows something, to come forward.”
Anyone with information about the homicide is asked to contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
