According to police, the victim, a Delray Beach man, was sitting in his car at the time of the incident. The car was located in the area of Southwest Congress Boulevard and South Congress Avenue.
The victim was talking on a cell phone with his girlfriend when the suspects drove by him on the street. One of the suspects allegedly jumped out of their car and jumped into the passenger seat of the victim’s vehicle. The suspect then allegedly began punching the victim in the face.
While the attack was taking place inside the victim’s car, the other suspect was reportedly standing outside the car and acting as a lookout.
The victim tried to stop the assault and pressed down on the accelerator to his car. This reportedly prompted the suspect to grab the keys out of the ignition and bring the vehicle to a stop.
The suspect got out of the vehicle and, with the other suspect, allegedly fled the scene on foot.
Boynton Beach police officers arrived at the scene and quickly apprehended the suspects. After they were caught, the suspects reportedly told police that they had arranged a meeting with the victim; they were allegedly going to give him drugs in exchange for renting his car.
After being arrested and charged, the suspects were taken to the Palm Beach County Jail in West Palm Beach, Florida. They were both released from the facility after posting bond.
