Acreage Residents Accused of Growing Pot, Allegedly Had 65 Marijuana Plants

Acreage Florida Marijuana SuspectPolice arrested two Acreage Florida residents after allegedly finding 65 marijuana plants in their residence.

According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, a 57-year-old male and a 53-year-old female were growing marijuana out of their home.

Police received a tip about pot being grown at the residence, which is located on Orange Grove Boulevard in Acreage, FL. Deputies with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office then set up surveillance of the house.

Police were able to gain access to property owned by the suspects’ neighbors. While walking along the neighbors’ land, deputies reportedly smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the suspects’ property.

Police met the male suspect inside his front door. According to law enforcement, the suspect told police that he had a single marijuana plant in the back of the home.

The conversation took a turn for the worse when the suspect allegedly grabbed the arm of a deputy and told him to leave. The deputy took custody of the suspect and escorted him outside the home. At that point, the female suspect allegedly attempted to shove the deputy.

The male suspect was placed under arrest. Meanwhile, the female suspect ran back inside the home and allegedly refused to come out. After backup officers arrived at the scene, the female suspect finally agreed to surrender.

Police later obtained a search warrant to go inside the residence. Once inside the home, police allegedly discovered 65 marijuana plants, an unspecified amount of processed marijuana, and more than $7,000 in cash.

Both suspects have been charged with a number of drug crimes, including cultivation of marijuana. The suspects also face charges for resisting arrest.

After being arrested and charged, the suspects were taken to the Palm Beach County Jail. The male suspect was later released from custody after posting $21,000 bail; the female suspect secured her release by posting $18,000 bail.
